Health risk assessment
We all know that prevention is better than cure, and many silent
killing diseases like High
blood pressure, Diabetes may go undiagnosed until a life-threatening
or emergency event
detect the disease. Behaviours such as smoking, poor diet, lack
of exercise and not wearing seat belts are among the factors that
increase a person's risk of getting sick or dying prematurely.
We have designed certain specific risk assessment tools to help
you understand the risk
factors. Please realise that this is only an assessment and it does
not by any chance mean
that you will suffer from the disease.

:: Cancer risk assessment
Although many specific causes of cancer are now known and understood,
a large
proportion remained unexplained. Making appropriate lifestyle changes,
undergoing
regular medical examinations and screenings, and communicating concerns
to a primary health care professional may help reduce an individual's
risk of certain cancers.

Diabetes risk assessment
:: Diabetes mellitus (often
called diabetes) is a condition where the body cannot maintain
normal blood glucose levels. High levels of glucose in blood are
known to cause health
problems and complications.
Diabetes is of two types-
Type 1
Which is sometimes called Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or
Juvenile Onset Diabetes.
It usually occurs in people under 30 years, but can occur at any
age. The definite cause of this
type of diabetes is still unknown.
Type 2
Which is sometimes called Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus
or Mature
Age Onset Diabetes. It usually occurs in people who are over the
age of 50 years and have a
family history of diabetes; or are overweight, although there are
some exceptions.

Type 2 diabetes.
:: Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis means "porous bones". Osteoporosis is a disease
where bone density and
structural quality deteriorate, leading to weakness and bone fragility
of the skeleton and
increase risk of fracture. Common sites to fracture are the wrist,
hip, spine, pelvis and upper arm.
Bone loss is often gradual and without warning signs, until the
disease is advanced.

:: Arthritis risk calculator
Arthritis is a general term covering more than 150 different conditions.
The term arthritis
literally means inflammation of a joint, but is generally used to
describe any condition in
which there is damage to the cartilage. Inflammation is the body's
natural response to injury.
The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid
arthritis,
and traumatic arthritis.
